Andrew's Indoor Soccer Highlights

Andrew's in an inpromtu indoor soccer league, where they play pickup games on Saturdays.
It's relaxed and a lot of fun. See if you can spot his 2 goals. He's in a navy shirt in some clips, and a red vest over the same shirt in others.

Andrew At Large

Andrew's taking Theater Arts at school this year, and is really enjoying it. His class recently learned the art of stage makeup, and Andrew got to perform on himself. Check out the mugshots. Note the 5 o'clock shadow. No wonder he's taken a sudden interest in my razor.

Caught by the cops.

All good mugshots should include the profile.

Chi-Town & such:

Hello- My name is alyx, and I figured I might actually contribute to this 'family' site.

So, as a few of you know or have heard, I recently made a trek to the ever popular town of Chicago.

I was able to stay with Amelia (Matthew's girlfriend) in her apartment. The three of us were able to go to a gourmet restaurant, see a show at Second City (the birth of many Saturday night live characters), and shopped. It snowed while I was there as well, so that of course was an amazing treat.

We were also lucky enough to win a raffle, and got 3 front row seats(in the very center) to Wicked (a popular Broadway show that is currently on tour). The seats usually go for a couple hundred bucks, but we were able to view the show from the best seats in the house for $25 a person! Yay! It was my first Broadway show- ever. So that was an incredible experience for sure.

I had a blast, and was able to spend some time with my family; it was a needed and very much enjoyed vacation.

Here are a few pictures I snapped along the way:
(the last one I am actually going to enter in a statewide art competition- wish me luck.)

I shall be adding more to this site soon, and I'll put up some more art or something.

till then-
Alyx.

Barton Creek Greenbelt Hike

This past weekend, we took the boys, along with Ben and Emmy Cohorn, to the Greenbelt. It's a favorite for area hikers, with good reason. The scenery is absolutely beautiful, and you don't have to be an Everest veteran to do it. REI has rockclimbing clinics out here.

The weather was perfect: overcast with temperatures in the 50s. The kids had a blast, though it was a challenge to keep them from getting too far ahead of us. Every new scene around the bend sent them running and screaming ahead, ready to tackle the next cliff.

Andrew spotted a small bat hanging from a rock near a waterfall. We saw shell fossils and scenery that made us forget we were just about a mile or so from downtown Austin.

If you come to visit us, the Greenbelt is a must-see.

The lone bat. Sorry about the blurred image.

The kids maneuver their way across a narrow stretch of a cliff, with about a 15 or 20 foot drop.

Never shy to strike a pose.

This has nothing to do with anything.

I just came across this video I filmed a few years ago. It's my friend Casey. We used to work together in Alexandria, LA at a small ad agency. This was one afternoon when we were bored. That about sums it up.
