Andrew the Animator

This is Andrew's first animation project since we just downloaded some cool animation software. Expect more of these in the future. Very easy to use, and who knows what we'll come up with next.

Sighting

While Christmas tree hunting a few weeks back outside of Elgin, TX, we spotted a strange creature. I happened to catch it on video, though the quality isn't exactly the best. I'm not one to believe in this kind of stuff, but take a look and tell me what you think.

Brent Pelloquin, Photoshop God

Brent's always had extreme Photoshop skills. Here's a recent piece he did for Lafayette Utilities System. He's also inserted unsuspecting people into movies, WWII battle scenes and 80s hair bands, the last of which is a pretty scary thing.

Spare time

Found some cool vintage sign pics on flickr a while back, and decided to make stuff out of them. The first thing to come out of it was this robot.

Then I created this symmetrical design, and did a couple more in the series. May shoot some signs here in Austin and make more, who knows.

    Glen's Work

As promised in the last post, following are some samples of work I've done over the years. I'm lucky enough to be someone who enjoys their career. My ad agency is moving downtown, and we'll be up and running from there right after the new year. For a peek at our new office building, visit norwoodtower.com.

This is a poster I designed for Southside Market & Barbeque. A family-owned restaurant, Southside has been around since the 1880s. We got our hands on their family photo albums, and decided to use their photos in the campaign.

An ad that ran in Austin Monthly. Southside's reputation hinges on their sausage.

A bus shelter ad done for Dell Latitude laptops. Part of a campaign that never saw the light of day.

Ad campaign for EasyClosets.com, where you can design your closet online, and they ship you the materials to install it yourself. Headline left: There's a closet designer in all of us. Headline right: There's beauty in organization.

A poster created for Fuddruckers, hyping their new do-it-yourself nachos.

    Welcome to our blog.

Glad you're here. We're the Gauthiers: Glen, Stacy, Matthew, Alyx, Cole and Andrew. Our home is Austin, having moved here from Louisiana in June of 2005. We'll use this space to let visitors in on what's happening in our family, and on any given day, that could mean almost anything.

    A brief rundown on us:

Glen: Fearless leader of the clan. Senior Art Director at Kolar Advertising. Been in the business for about 18 years now. I'll attempt to show work samples in the near future. I enjoy hanging out at home with Stacy and the kids, and finding new places to hike in and around Austin.

Stacy: The mother, backbone and chef of the family. You won't find a better wife/mother on the planet. Her passion keeps things moving around here, and helps wake us up in the morning. Just ask Alyx. Stacy is currently working at The Container Store part time, where she livens things up for her coworkers.

Matthew: The oldest of the siblings, Matthew is currently a junior at Wheaton College, just outside of Chicago, where he's majoring in English and navigating the Chicago train system. If we can convince him, we'll start posting some of his short stories soon. Matthew is the new music finder of the family.

Alyxandra: Alyx to us, she's a junior at Cedar Park High School. She's interested in fashion design, and is taking art classes in school to get her ready for college, wherever on the planet that may be. She just became an employee of Starbucks in the local Target, so she'll be able to add Barista to her resume. We dare you to keep up with her social network.

Cole: Firstborn by 15 minutes of the 10 year old twins of the family. Cole has a soccer ball permanently attached to his foot. Surgery to remove it is impossible. His team just won the Texas State Championship, so the grin on his face won't leave soon.

Andrew: The comedian of the family. Tech savvy and an avid reader, who knows what Andrew will become. Currently, he enjoys surfing the web and creating simple lego animation. He just finished his Robotics Club at his school, where he built and programmed Lego robots.

Reeses the Rat: The newest member of the family, he enjoys eating rat food, shredding paper and pooping wherever he pleases.
